Sherita Finklea-Barnwell

 

Sherita is the founder and owner of B-Well Home Care Services. Sherita grew up in Marion, a small town in South Carolina. At a very young age, Sherita watched her mother, Ann, tirelessly care for her loving parents, Yancy and Lillie Mae Braboy. Her grandfather fought lung cancer while her grandmother dealt with the complications of a stroke. Sherita knew at an early age that there was something special about honoring and caring for her elders. At the age of 9, her paternal grandmother, Alma Finklea suffered a fall and later required knee surgery. Sherita immediately told her parents that she would go stay with her grandmother so that she could "be her arms and legs" while she recovered from the surgery. 21 years later, Grandma Finklea suffered multiple health problems and could no longer take care of herself or live alone. Her grandmother made it clear that she did not want to go to a nursing home, and so the family gladly honored her wishes. During this process, the family was unable to find home care assistance in their town. They decided that in order to honor their matriarch's wishes, they would pitch in to provide around-the-clock care for her at home. As a result, Sherita left her husband and young children every weekend and traveled from Charlotte to Marion, South Carolina to help care for her beloved grandmother until her death. This experience weighed heavily on Sherita's heart and mind because she knew that if her family had a hard time finding the help that they needed, then other families must have been having the same experience. This experience solidified Sherita's belief that our elders and disabled citizens are valueable and deserve to live their lives with dignity in the comfort of their homes instead of being forced into nursing homes due to a lack of access to the care that they need at home. Carrying out this mission became Sherita's passion. Through her personal and professional experiences, the inspiration for B-Well Home Care Services was born. The company's motto, "Be well. Live well" is so appropriate because Sherita's desire is to make a positive impact in the elderly and disabled community to help them be well so that they can live well.

 

Sherita has 18 years of healthcare industry experience. Her professional resume includes employment with large hospitals in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia, where she held positions from Certified Nurse Aide to office manager. She has held positions with a national health insurance company as well as a large healthcare consulting company. Sherita received a Masters of Business Adminstration (MBA) with a concentration in Health Services Administration from Devry University-Keller Graduate School of Management, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Business Administration from Pfeiffer University. Sherita is married with two children and resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
